🌍 The Basics.

International Women’s Day is a United Nations (UN) holiday that recognizes the achievements women are making around the world.

On March 8th, people celebrate in many different ways, from going on mentoring walks to sharing stories that amplify women’s voices. Learn more about International Women’s Day here:

 📈 Facts and Figures.

So much is happening across the globe when it comes to women’s rights and gender equality. Here’s a glimpse at where we are right now:

✨IWD Inspiration.

One of the best parts of International Women’s Day is seeing and hearing about inspiring women making a difference in their communities. We admire not only what they have achieved, but also the challenges and even ordinary steps along the way.

🙌 How to help.

The main International Women’s Day priority right now is how to achieve gender equality by 2030 (a big one, right)! Here are ways you can participate and make a positive difference:
  • Share a story about a woman who has inspired you (and yes this can be about yourself). Remember the phrase, “you can’t be what you can’t see?” Your story could help inspire someone else! Send your story over social media and tag @MemunatuMag or send us an email at info@memunatumagazine.com
  • Recognize someone in your community who you think is doing something extra special for gender equality. Virtual shout-outs could be just what they need today.
  • Learn about the SDGs, also known as, the Sustainable Development Goals. These lay a “blueprint for peace and prosperity for people and the planet.” See how they started and what goals made the final cut here.
  • Support a cause that is empowering women and girls (there are many great non-profit organizations out there, including ours ;))
Plus, by reading this email, you are already on your way to making a difference! #knowledgeispower

Reminder: however you celebrate the day, remember to stay safe (it is a pandemic after all). We’ll be following local guidelines and hope you will too!
