Welcome to the Team: Arissa

Hi! My name is Arissa Morrell and I am a senior at George Washington University majoring in International Affairs with a regional concentration on Africa and a minor in Sociology. This spring, I will be working as a Development Intern for Memunatu Magazine. At school, I participate in Jumpstart, a preschool literacy program that works with students in under-resourced communities. I am also a member of Alpha Phi Omega, a gender inclusive community service fraternity on campus. In the past, I have worked as a Marketing & Promotions intern for Bobby’s Burger Palace as well as an intern for the Office of Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton. I am passionate about education/education policy, global literacy, African affairs, and how each of these issue areas pertain to women. In my spare time, I am often babysitting, watching football (go Redskins!), or doing zumba. After graduation, I hope to work for an NGO that is based in Africa or focuses on promoting global literacy then attend graduate school in a few years. I am very excited to apply my skills and passion to my work for Memunatu this semester.
