International Day of the Girl 2017

Since 2012, October 11th has marked the International Day of the Girl, a day dedicated by the United Nations to highlighting issues of gender inequity across the globe and the unique challenges faced by women and girls.

At Memunatu Magazine, empowering women and highlighting the experience of girls is at the very heart of our work. Through the magazine itself, classroom content, and forums like this event, Memunatu works to support girls and women across the globe, with a particular emphasis on girls in Africa. Memunatu’s International Day of the Girl 2017: Game Changers will feature women and girls leading innovative in a variety of industries including technology, humanities, sustainability, and entrepreneurship. A platform to amplify female voices, this annual event is designed to spark conversations about our panelists’ experiences as women leaders and the impact of their work on women and girls around the world.

This year our event is sponsored by Amazon and will be located in Washington, D.C. Proceeds from the event will go towards Memunatu pilots in these areas across West Africa and world.
