Memunatu Magazine is excited to recruit a cohort of Editorial Fellows to create and support empowering content for teen girls!
Memunatu is a 501(c)(3) non profit that empowers teenage girls (10-17 years old) in Africa and the diaspora. Through a print and digital platform, we amplify content that promotes literacy, leadership, and empowerment. Distributed through single copy and bulk sales to schools and organizations, Memunatu is inspiring a new generation of African girls. More information about us here: https://memunatumagazine.com
Editorial Fellows will play an important role this year in telling powerful stories. Responsibilities may include:
- Writing and researching articles for Memunatu print and digital
- Conducting outreach to speakers and interviewees
- Assisting students and teachers on the submission process
- Seeking prospective schools and programs
- Contributing to social media channels (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn)
This is a good experience if:
- You are excited about empowering and educating girls
- You have experience or interest in working on Africa and diaspora-related topics
- You love creating content and are passionate about communications
- You have strong English language skills, including writing, reading, and speaking (native or bilingual proficiency)
- You have regular internet access. For us, that means you can be available for all weekly video call meetings, have the ability to check your email at least every other day, and can fulfill the above activities online (estimated 5 hrs/ week).
This is a volunteer opportunity from March 2021-Dec 2021. This is a particularly good opportunity for current students (graduate students and undergraduate students, sophomore year and above), recent graduates, and freelance professionals.
Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis. Please apply through the form below by Thursday, March 11 at 11:59pm ET.
