Chidi Blyden’s Appointment to the Biden Administration

Memunatu Magazine congratulates Leadership Council member, Chidi Blyden on her appointment to the Biden Administration!

Chidi was recently appointed as the Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for African Affairs in the Biden Administration at the Pentagon. She has a wealth of expertise on Africa’s defense, security, and development issues and is the first African-American and person of Sierra Leonean heritage to serve in this role. She has extensive experience in academia and field research where her work has focused on the importance of cultural context and impact in developing foreign policy. She is highly regarded among the African diaspora and Washington D.C. policy communities for her mentorship of young leaders and women.

Chidi attended the Annie Walsh School for Girls in Sierra Leone and holds a BSc from Texas A&M University in Sociology and an MSc from George Mason University’s Carter School of Conflict Resolution.
