Welcome to the team: Sytonia

Hi! My name is Sytonia Reid and I am a rising Senior at Howard University. As an English major and Journalism minor, it may be needless to say that I love to write. At Memunatu, I’m excited for the opportunity to apply my interests in research, media and social & cultural commentary to the overarching goal of promoting the empowerment of women and girls around the globe. This May, I had the privilege of traveling to Ghana as a Young Africana Leadership Initiative (YAALI) Fellow and have since, become invested in the movement to highlight the diversity, advancement and beauty of the continent. At school, I enjoy participating as a Sigma Tau Delta member, writing for my University’s newspaper, and volunteering in the Anthropology & Sociology departments. In my free time, I like to visit the many museums in D.C., go to poetry slams and sometimes, binge watch TV series on Netflix.
